The Global Excel Summit is delighted to announce a new partnership with Ken Puls, an 18-time Microsoft MVP.
Puls is the founder of Excelguru, a comprehensive online resource dedicated to Excel and other related data analysis tools such as Power Query and Power BI.
He is also one of the founding partners of Skillwave, a training company that specialises in providing hands-on workshops, boot camps, and online video courses focused on these areas.
In a heavily data-driven world coupled with the recent surge of AI, it's never been more important to be equipped with the toolbox to handle modern challenges.
However, there are serious question marks about the standards across many industries, with numerous high-profile gaffes having occurred due to improper practices — often because employees are not properly conditioned for the raft of challenges thrown at them.
Studies have found that 88% of spreadsheets contain errors, ranging from the insignificant and unnoticable at one end of the spectrum — to the costly and tragic at the other.
The Global Excel Summit shares Puls’ passion for helping to raise the bar, so accuracy and efficiency are the cornerstone for better decision-making at large and small organisations.
By joining forces, this will open the possibility to delivering numerous high-quality training events in the coming time.
A new kind of Masterclass
In February 2025, Puls will make the lengthy trip across the Atlantic to deliver a bumper three-day training Masterclass in London.
This will be the first time the Global Excel Summit has helped deliver a multi-day in-person course of any kind.
The Self Service Business Intelligence Boot Camp is designed to empower participants to transform how they manage and analyse data within their organisations.
The intensive and all-encompassing nature of the workshop means they will leave with the skills and knowledge to leverage modern tools like Excel, Power Query, and Power BI to optimise their workflows.
The course is divided into three parts, with each running for around seven hours on separate days:
Part 1: Master Your Data
Covers Excel PivotTable essentials, importing data with Power Query, merging tables, and utilising conditional logic. Participants will also delve into creating and refreshing data imports, data transformation techniques, and managing complex data tasks.
Part 2: Building BI
Focuses on building data models and introduces participants to dimensional modelling, laying a dynamic groundwork with Power Query, and the basics of the DAX language. Key topics include creating table relationships, filtering, and building DAX measures.
Part 3: DAX & Time Intelligence
Explores advanced DAX, calendar tables, time intelligence measures, and dashboarding. Prominent functions like the powerful CALCULATE() are demonstrated, as is Power BI’s extensive visuals library and how to integrate Power BI with Excel for enhanced analytics.
Other information
The event takes place at a luxurious venue in the heart of the capital, which is well-connected and easily accessible for anyone visting from the UK or overseas.
Upon completion, attendees are able to claim up to 21 hours of CPD points and will also benefit from a range of amenities, including lifetime access to all working files, refreshments throughout the day, and even a free Monkey Tools Pro license.
