Transforming Excel into dynamic web applications with Sheetcast

We are approaching the two-month mark since Global Excel Summit 2024, when we welcomed the biggest names from the Excel world to deliver cutting-edge sessions encompassing the AI Exceleration theme.

One of those was our Brand Partner, Sheetcast.

What does Sheetcast do?

Sheetcast is the key to transforming Excel into dynamic web applications.

The patented new platform enables ordinary, non-technical users to convert Excel sheets to web applications in minutes.

After downloading the Sheetcast add-in, you upload the spreadsheet you’d like to convert from Excel to a web application. Then, one by one, you add whatever pages and functions your users will need to input and display the data related to your spreadsheet. The demo videos at Sheetcast.com walk you through a few examples.

Once you have your own Sheetcast up and running, you can begin reaping the benefits of going from spreadsheet to web app. For one, your users will no longer need to know Excel in order to work with your spreadsheet — indeed, they don’t even need to own a copy of Excel at all. Instead, they can interact with the data through simple, user-friendly forms and charts. And they can do so on any internet-connected device — a smartphone, tablet, laptop or desktop.

At the same time, a web app helps protect your intellectual property. When you share a spreadsheet, you also share the underlying structure and formulas that make it function. In other words, you’re trusting that your user won’t take your work and repurpose it — or even resell it — for their own benefit. A web app eliminates those concerns.

Sheetcast at Global Excel Summit 2024

It was great to welcome Alex Martin and Catherine Mondragon from the Sheetcast team, who made the trans-Atlantic trip all the way from Edmonton, Canada, to touch down in London and appear at the Shepherd's Bush venue.

Back at base were Jason Clarke and Brett Baker from Sheetcast's parent company, Pleasant Solutions, who participated in the virtual Breakout Rooms.

On the opening day, they demoed an impressive business and contacts directory app built with Sheetcast.

The next day, Alex gave an insightful presentation on the Main Stage exploring the world of Excel monetisation and how to identify exciting opportunities to commercialise your spreadsheets.

On the final day, which featured a marathon of online-only sessions, Alex joined Jason to convert three spreadsheets into web apps in just 15 minutes!

The Breakout Room saw Jason and Brett dive deeper into the topic of monetisation and discuss ways to transform spreadsheets into profitable web apps. In a later session, they also revealed how to protect your intellectual property, formulas, and workflows.

David Fortin, founder of Piggy Bank Accountant, made a guest appearance. He showed off a worksheet-based invoicing system he had made and wowed viewers with how quickly he converted it into a fully functioning web app.

Finally, we'd like to thank Sheetcast for all their contributions to an unforgettable event!
